    Mage is a class with a ranged autoattack and many ranged skills, making it ideal for kiting. Combining Lightning Strike with Fireball can allow a player to slow a monster down, run from them, and blast them for lots of damage without being at risk themselves. Magic Shockwave doesn't have as low a cooldown as Warrior's Whirlwind, but still allows a mage to competently contribute to killing monsters en masse.

    I am interested in the Dodge stat. If it does exactly what it says on the tin, the closer we get to +100% Dodge the closer we get to immortality, and this is happening very quickly with items like Brutal Horn, Tegmina Cloak and Serpent Fighter Boots, for example. So what I'm saying is that at first you would think that your Dodge stat is exactly equal to your chance of dodging any given attack, and I am going to find out whether that is true.


    I will equip different equipment items in order to manipulate my Dodge stat. To start off with, at least, I will go with Dodge stats of +0%, +10%, +25% and +33%.     Without knowing all of the game mechanics, it's difficult to compare gear. Right now I'm working on figuring out as many relevant mechanics as I can, so that I can make some widely applicable weighting scales. For now, this is what I've found.

    AQ3D is a primarily single-player game, but also allows for players to easily band together to take on tougher foes, like bosses. In those kinds of situations, someone is going to end up taking the damage -- so why not be prepared?

    Tanking is being the person who takes damage for the team so that other folks can focus on dealing damage rather than worrying about their hp bar.

    Each class has different skills with different damage equations and different cooldowns. So, how does one determine which class can do the most damage? There's a few ways to do it, and a few metrics that could be tested. Good metrics include max single-iteration damage, max single-rotation damage, highest per-hit damage, most damage over a set amount of time, and damage per mana use.     Add your drop % testing numbers in a comment here, so others can add their numbers to yours.

    If a monster drops multiple copies of an item (eg Slime lord drops 5x crusts), just count each time it drops them as 1 drop, not eg. 5.


    1. To calculate the drop rate, first set a number of times you plan to kill the monster. Try for a minimum of 50 kills.
    2. Next, kill it that many times and keep track of how many times it did drop the item, and how many times it did not.
    3. Plug the numbers into a calculator like this (use the second line -- "X is what percent of Y?", where X is the number of times you got the drop, and Y is the total number of kills.
